Out-Patient services

The Clinical Nutrition Department has a regular clinic for all out-patient. The nutrition clinic is open daily from Saturday to Wednesday for all out-patients in need of nutritional advice, intervention and even follow-up. It covers the following: Adult Dietetics, Pediatric Dietetics, Pediatric Oncology, and Adult Oncology, Metabolic, Peritoneal Dialysis and all of the cases in Business Center.
  • Nutrition services at outpatient clinics (14 clinics) are almost daily as (4) hours session per day during the week. As soon as sufficient skilled staff has been recruited the service will be extended to cover almost (20) clinics per week as (4) hours session per day.
  • Nutrition services at primary health care clinics are also covered weekly including Iskan, Al Waha, Bahrah and Dar Al Aman Health Care Center as part of primary health care service. (IPP: 8010-01-01-03).
  • Nutrition services at Dar Al Aman Health Care Center as long term patient care (IPP: 8010-01-01-03).
  • The clinical dietitian provides outpatient services to all patients requiring nutritional intervention and involves:
  • Anthropometric information
  • Laboratory information
  • Nutrition history
  • Medications
  • Medical concerns
  • Developing, implementing, and documenting an individualized plan of care for each patient, analyzing subjective and objective information to define nutrition problems and goals.
  • Providing nutritional counseling and education to patients and their caregivers, including information on modified diets and food-drug interactions, and evaluation of the effectiveness of counseling based on objective information when possible.

Appointment & Follow-up visit:

Appointment & Follow-up visit of the patient can be determined by Clinical Dietitian based on his/her assessment and the need for monitoring in the improvement of nutritional status of the patient. The Clinical Dietitian should schedule the next visit of the patient and provides the follow-up visit form.


Take Home Supply:

The Clinical Dietitians will establish the nutritional requirements of the patients requiring nutritional supplements whether oral or for enteral use. The clinical dietitians prescribe the type and frequency of the formula. Please refer to Policy and Procedure: Guidelines for the issuance of enteral formula as take home supply.
