PHTLS Provider Course
Course Description:
This is a highly interactive two-day scenario-based course and Instructors facilitate interactive lecture discussion. Course material includes a text book and a companion CD-ROM containing video clips, review questions and answers for self-assessment.
Course Objectives:
Participants will understand the physiology and kinematics of trauma, and improve their rapid assessment, diagnostic and intervention skills when handling adult and pediatric multi-system trauma patients. Participants will apply the principles of PHTLS in the scenario-based skill stations. Moulaged patient models are used to simulate the various trauma situations and guide the participant.
Accreditation and awards:
A successful candidate will receive a provider card and a certificate that remains valid for four years. Candidate will also receive 12 Continuing Medical Education (CME) hours by Saudi Commission for Health Specialities (
SCHS) and 16 CE hours by the
NAEMT Association.
This Course is co-sponsored and follows the guidelines and standards set by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) in cooperation with the
American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma in USA. This course combines both basic and advanced trauma concepts and skills in one definitive resource. Course material is renewed every 4 years.
Target audience/requirements:
First Responders; EMT-B, EMT-I and EMT-P; Physicians; Nurses; and other licensed health care professionals who would benefit from attending this course.
PHTLS Instructor Course
Course Description:
In this highly intensive one-day course, faculty concentrate on teaching a variety of methods used to present information, guide the learner, communicate constructive criticism and evaluate performance. Microteaching mini lecture and skill stations allow the participant to practice the role of the instructor.
Target audience/requirements:
Individuals who perform well and are observed by the PHTLS faculty to possess a teaching capability will be invited to participate in the instructor course.
Awards:
A successful candidate will receive an instructor card and a certificate that remains valid for 4 years. Candidate will also receive 5 Continuing Medical Education (CME) hours by the Saudi Council and 9 CE hours by the NAEMT Association.
