NGHA celebrates Nursing Day 

His Excellency the Chief Executive Officer of the National Guard Health Affairs and the President of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences Dr. Bandar Al Knawy launched the activities of the International Nursing Day in Dr. Sameer Bin Huraib Auditorium on Tuesday 12-5-2009.

The ceremony started with Holy Quran verses, then Professor Robert Hemmelder, the Director of Clinical Nursing gave a speech where he talked about the evolution of the nursing profession, presenting all the stages that it had undergone from when it had began until it had became a profession.

Dr. Bandar Al Knawy gave a speech where he thanked everyone who contributed to this day’s success, signifying the import role that the nursing profession plays in the lives of patients. He said that this is an important job that cannot be accomplished except by those who truly believe in alleviating the suffering of all patients. His Excellency also stressed that the NGHA supports this profession and had established for this cause the College of Nursing in King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences where the most advanced teaching methods are utilized to turn out efficient and professional nurses.

The NGHA Chief Operating Officer Mr. Abduallah Al-Ammari gave a speech where he thanked the attendees and the organizers for this special day in the lives of every nurse who endeavors to ease the suffering of the sick and those in need. He also commended the result of the cooperation of all those who aspire to offer assistance and alleviate pain.

At the end of the ceremony, Dr. Bandar Al Knawy honored to the nurses who received annual awards for their human achievements. He also distributed plaques and certificates to all participants.
