- The Anesthesiology Department started in October 2002 with one consultant anesthesiologist and expanded gradually to a total of 5 Consultants (including the chairman)

- 1 Admin Assistant
- Staffs are appointed according to National Guard policy with regard their qualification and experience.
- Orientation of new comers is done by the hospital. A special departmental orientation is done supported by departmental orientation manual and a copy of their job description.

- The Anesthesiology Department commissioned two operating rooms in 2003 expanded to 6 operating rooms in 2008.
- New monitors added and all anesthesia machines are upgraded.
- New services added (Acute pain service, chronic pain clinic, Epidural service for Obstetric, availability of an anesthesiologist covering the wards.
- Patient and Family education regarding pain control and anesthesia.
- Member of all hospital committees and leading a conscious sedation committee.
- Departmental subcommittee for quality improvement and mortality & morbidity.
- NGHA Al Ahsa became one of the international recognized medical centers for Bariatric Surgery for morbidly obese patients. A total of 600 cases were performed over the last 5 years.
- The Saudi council recognized the Anesthesiology Department for Saudi board residency training.
- The Anesthesiology Department has a 100% resident success rate.
- The Anesthesiology Department organized and participated in national and international conferences and workshops
