- To promote family-centered care to support women in their self-care and care of their families.
- To provide health education to women during childbearing and throughout their life span.
- To provide a collaborative relationship between the prenatal care provider and the family in decision-making and planning.
- To provide support for families of babies with special medical needs.
- To demonstrate personnel practices’ that respect and support family-centered, culturally sensitive care.
- To use critical thinking skills in making informed decisions in the management of clients, families, groups and the community.
- To integrate theory and research-based knowledge as the foundation in the provision of evidenced-based nursing practice.
- To provide care with respect for human dignity and uniqueness of the client unrestricted by consideration of social, economic status, personal attributes or the nature of the health problem.
- To provide direct and indirect care to our client population of women across the reproductive lifespan; and infants and children up to 12 years of age.
