Mission ​​​​


Provides nutritional services to the patients in addition to the other medical services by following the international nutrition standards in ensuring the highest quality services as well as increase healthy nutrition knowledge for patients and population.

Vision​

Our vision is that every patient in Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz Hospital in Al-Madinah gets the highest nutritional care according to his diagnosis and treatment plan by full coordination with medical team and patient family.

Goals​


The goals of the Clinical Nutrition Services are:

  • Prevent malnutrition for all admitted patients in hospital

  • Participate in improving health care in population.

  • Provide structured and outlined training for the newly graduated Saudi Clinical Dietitians in all medical sections and community nutrition.

  • Qualify the new hired individuals for the position of Clinical Dietitian and permit the candidate to acquire specialized knowledge.

  • Ensure that every Clinical Dietitian possess the knowledge and the technical competence which enable him / her to maintain high standard, safe and efficient performance.

  • Fulfill the immediate and future needs of NGHA of highly qualified Clinical Dietitians.

Objectives​

  • Acquainted with hospital /department policies and procedures.

  • Assume full responsibility and duties of a fully qualified Clinical Dietitian including:

    • Screening patients based on departmental and JCIA standards.

    • Assessing the nutritional requirements of hospitalized patients.

    • Planning and implementing nutritional care plans.

    • Evaluating the effectiveness of these care plans and of the patient/family Education Programs.

    • Counseling and educating individuals and groups for health promotion, health maintenance and rehabilitation.

    • Liaise and coordinate with other professionals on the health care team, utilizing effective communication skills in the practice of dietetics.

  • Integrates food and nutrition services in the health care delivery system.

  • Coordinates nutrition care with the Food Service System.

  • Synthesize the principles of the current nutrition and related sciences and apply this knowledge for optimum patient care.
