MLTT Programs

The Medical Laboratory Technology Training Program (MLTTP) is developed and managed under the aegis of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, at King Abdulaziz Medical City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The MLTTP is the only institution of its kind in Saudi Arabia, and the unique features of this program make it ideal for graduates to obtain a sound post-graduate level vocational education and training, meanwhile strengthening their overall knowledge base and clinical laboratory theoretical/practical skills.

The MLTTP currently consists of three clinical laboratory Programs: Clinical Biochemistry, Diagnostic Cytology, and Electron Microscopy.

The ultimate aim of the MLTTP is the development of skilled and qualified candidates to relieve occupational demand both within Saudi Arabia and abroad. Candidates navigate through tailor-designed fast-track curricula to complete one-year full time study. Curricula have been specifically designed to reflect both the current international standards and the regional needs for all disciplines. Successful graduates from Clinical Chemistry and Diagnostic Cytology will also be eligible to secure professional certification credentials from international colleges and academies (i.e., International Academy of Cytology {IAC}; American Society for Clinical Pathology {ASCP}).

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at King Abdulaziz Medical City, Riyadh, is a robust, comprehensive operation accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), Joint Commission for International Accreditation (JCIA) and American Association of Blood Banking (AABB). It employs state-of-the-art technology and expertise that supports effective training and development.

The MLTTP academic year consists of 4 blocks, of 12 weeks each. Each School is carefully defined by discipline-specific lectures; but additionally, all candidates are subject to a core program designed to reinforce universal knowledge, such as: human physiology, pathology, professional development, and laboratory management / safety, medical terminology. Likewise, ample opportunity for clinical placement training has been designed into these curricula.
