3rd KAMC Cytopathology Symposium

The National Guard Health Affairs proudly announces the 3rd KAMC Cytopathology Symposium, to be conducted on January 23–25, 2011, at the Riyadh Marriott Hotel. This Symposium will also be in association with the American Society of Cytopathology (ASC), and will showcase three distinguished international speakers. Based on the success experienced from former symposia, the 3rd Symposium has been re-initiated by Dr. Abdulaziz Al Ajlan, Chairman, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, at King Abdulaziz Medical City.

The main objective of the 3rd KAMC Cytopathology Symposium, is to converge expert speakers through which to demonstrate and emphasize the significance, and application, of latest developments. In addition to reviewing fundamental cellular morphology, and the associated reporting terminology, the Symposium aims to highlight current knowledge of HPV involvement in cervical cancer development, and discuss recent endoscopic FNA techniques.

Since KAMC is a recognized examination site for the International Academy of Cytology, the Symposium also aims to support those candidates enrolled to sit International Academy of Cytology certification examinations immediately following the meeting.

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, at King Abdulaziz Medical City, is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the American Association of Blood Banking (AABB), the Joint Commission International (JCI), and is also appointed as the sole governing body for professional certification examinations for the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCPi) in the Kingdom. KAMC also hosts the only School of Diagnostic Cytology in the greater Middle East region under the auspices of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences
