Continuing Medical Education (CME)    
 
  • Purpose
    To establish the policy of Continuing Medical Education (CME) to enable dietitians to meet the requirements for their professional’s development.
  • Definitions
    CME/CPD is the way Dietitians continue to learn and develop throughout their careers so they keep their skills and knowledge up to date and are able to work safely, legally and effectively.
  • Policy statements
    • All Dietitians must continue to develop their knowledge and skills while they are registered to meet the Saudi Council’s CME Standards.
    • All registrants will be required to engage in CPD activities with effect from 1st July 2012. Registrants will need to record their activities in their portfolio and if selected for audit, to complete the CME profile which will then be assessed by CPD assessors.
  • Procedures
    Dietitians must:
    1. Maintain a continuous, up-to-date and accurate record of their CME activities i.e. Portfolio.
    2.  Demonstrate that their CME activities are a mixture of learning activities relevant to current or future practice.
    3. Aim that their CME improve the quality of their practice and service delivery.
    4. Aim that their CME benefits the service users include patients, clients, their team, or    students.
    5. Present a written profile containing evidence of their CME upon request to show how they have met Saudi Council’s standards.
