Physiological Measurement Department

Mission​

To provide the highest possible standards of diagnostic services to all NGHA patients and their dependents, and to comply with JCI standards in doing so.

Vision​


To promote teamwork and efficiency throughout the Department whilst maintaining quality at all times.

Goals /Objectives​​

  • ensure all staff adhere to Hospital Policy, JCI standards and Infection Prevention and Control procedures when performing their day-to-day duties in providing optimum patient care.

  • Ensure that all staffs are adequately qualified, trained and competent in performing respective diagnostic testing on both Inpatient and Outpatient.

  • Ensure the safety and welfare of patients is catered for at all times.

  • Ensure that all staff attends training programs or refresher courses (whenever possible), which will enhance professional development and technical expertise eq. BLS competency, Infection Control, Fire Safety etc.

Divisions​​

The Physiological Measurement Department provides the highest quality of diagnostic procedures in the following areas upon referral from the respective Consultant and/or Specialist.

RESPIROLOGY (Pulmonary Function Lab)

All pulmonary function tests are routinely performed in Pulmonary Function Lab

  • Spirometry with / without bronchodilator

  • Lung volume measurement using Body Plethysmograph.

  • Gas Transfer Factor Test (DLCO) using Single Breath Hold Technique.

  • Bronchial Challenge Tests using Metacholine.

  • Arterial Blood Gas assessment.

  • Respiratory Muscle Strength (MIPS/MEPS).

  • Exercise Challenge Testing.

  • Portable Spirometry.

  • Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET).

SLEEP DISORDERS LAB

The following procedures are routinely performed in the Sleep Disorders Lab;

  • Diagnostic Polysmnography (PSG)

  • Polysomnography for CPAP Titration

  • Polysomnography for CPAP Check

  • Polysomnography for BiPAP Titration

  • Polysomnography for BiPAP Check

  • Split-night Protocol

  • Overnight Polysomnography followed by Multiple Sleep Latency (MST)

  • 2 Overnight Polysomnographic studies for Parasomnia Patients

  • Polysomnography for Nocturnal seizure

  • Portable Sleep Study (Limited Sleep Study)

NEUROPHYSIOLOGY LAB

The following diagnostic procedures are routinely performed in the Neurophysiology Lab;

  • Electroencephalography (EEG) testing

  • Portable EEG testing

  • Electromyography (EMG) testing

  • Injection guidance of EMG system

  • Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS

  • Visual Evoked Response (VER)

  • Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response (BAER)
