  1. Increase in productivity: the OR expansion, the increase in number of hospital beds, the ER and Oncology Centre expansions and the building of a new Ambulatory Care Centre will increase the clinical workload and productivity of the department.
  2. The establishment of a full fledged state of the art Vascular & Endovascular Surgery services with the building of the new vascular laboratory due out first quarter 2010 and state of the art portable endovascular equipment.
  3. Establishment of new surgical services so that the full range of surgical treatment modalities will be available at KAMC-JD. This will include Cardiac Surgery and Renal transplantation
  4. Increasing recognition of the department and hospital as a major training center and a center of excellence which will follow the JCI accreditation and the accreditation by the Saudi Council for Health Sciences for more trainees in most surgical specialties.
  5. Encouragement of subspecialisation and providing regular opportunities for high caliber and board certified Saudi doctors to get subspecialty fellowship training in major international institutes.
  6. Encouragement of research and continuing medical education.
  7. Continuation of making the department a happy working environment that provides high quality work with maximum efficiency.
