Emergency dental care is needed if teeth are knocked out. If there is a chance to successfully re-implant them, the steps below must be immediately followed prior to seeing a dentist: |
|
- Gently hold the fallen tooth by the top and do not touch the roots.
The tooth must not be rubbed or scraped in order to preserve the root surface.
Rinse the tooth gently in a bowl of tap water not under running water.
Replace the tooth carefully in the socket and keep it in place until you see the dentist. Use gauze or a wet tea bag to help keep the tooth in place if it doesn't go all the way in.
If the tooth can't be replaced, it needs to be quickly placed in a small amount of whole milk, your own saliva or a warm, mild saltwater solution — 1.2 milliliters salt to about 1 liter water. |
