Heat Cramps

​Heat Cramps  

Heat cramps often affect the muscle of the calves and arms. They typically take place when exercising heavily in a hot atmosphere and are painful, uncontrolled muscle spasms which can be prolonged. Low fluid intake canhand holding leg sometimes help to cause heat cramps.

What to do when suspecting heat cramps?

  • Rest briefly.
  • Cool down by drinking water with a teaspoon of salt, juice or an electrolyte-containing sports drink.
  • Perform moderate stretching and gently massage the affected muscles.
  • If the cramps continue for over an hour seek medical help.
