​The 7th KFCC World Heart Day 2020

The 7th KFCC World Heart Day 2020 King Faisal Cardiac Center, King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah, organized the 7th world heart day Awareness Campaign, which was conducted virtually and was launched on the 4th of October 2020 over 2 days.

The theme of the campaign this year is “COVID will go away but heart health is here to stay”. The campaign will include educational materials and videos that will be available for view on social media platforms and the NGHA official website. The material focused on living a healthy lifestyle with emphasis on heart health during pandemics. The emphasis was on the role of an active and healthy lifestyle in boosting immunity and phycological well-being. King Faisal Cardiac Center highlighted some of the services that are available and showcase some of our achievements.

Dr. Hani Mufti - Consultant Cardiac Surgeon and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the 7th Annual World Heart Day Awareness Campaign for 2020, which was held virtually on the internet and across different social media platforms by using short videos and educational material that included vital massages. He indicated that the aim of the campaign is to enlighten the community on the importance of heart disease, its great impact on public health and how to mitigate the associated side-effects. Some examples of these diseases, such as angina caused by coronary arteriosclerosis, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmia, and congenital heart defects. He pointed to the important role of society in increasing health literacy to prevent these diseases and the importance of early detection to provide timely treatment and avoid complications. Dr. Hani explained that heart health and care can take place at any time and place, even in the presence of a pandemic and isolation conditions. Adopting a healthy lifestyle requires determination and perseverance, such as simple and regular walking, a balanced diet, a commitment to taking medication and avoiding heart disease triggers such as smoking.

Dr. Jamila Al-Rahimi, Chairman King Faisal Center, stated that this year campaign theme is “COVID will go away, but heart health is here to stay” which was held virtually in accordance to preventive measures. She indicated that health awareness and education have become one of the basic rules in improving any health care system locally and internationally, which is in accordance with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 2030 vision and the Ministry of National Guard main goals. Dr. Rahimi praised the participation of several specialized section from the center, in addition to the supporting medical departments from King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah, thanking and appreciating the distinguished efforts of the whole team across the institution.
