Quality Management

Medical Imaging is a Department with 6 sections ( General Diagnostic, CT, MRI, Ultrasound and Nuclear Medicin) and deals with Patients of all specialities and sub  specialities,  patients relatives, Physicians from all Specialities  covered by NGHA, Staff  from all departments across the hospital, relatives and also with many machines of varying  components of physics.

There are thus many processes governed by us and it is essental that all these processes are caried out optimally in all areas in order to to saticefy  all our above metntioned clents. This is where our  Quality Management programme  comes into the picture.

In our Dpartment, we understand Quality Managment to be the planning,  guiding, guaranteeing and continuous imrproving  of the quality of :

  • Our products  (Images, Reporting, Documentation System etc.) and

  • Our processes (Patient Care, Patient Flow, Scheduling, TAT, Infection Contol etc).

This necesitates optimizing the excecution of all processes systematically and cutting unneccessary steps. To reach this, we strive to regognise and utilize the skills and talents of all individuals in our department.

By using different methods and tools we achieve a competent managment which audits and controls:

  • Error prevention ( SRS Insident management - Research findings indicate that as many as 1 in 15 patients may experience an incident during their stay in hospital. These are unplanned or accidental events , resulting from a combination and interaction of factors which result in or have the potential of injury, dammage. or loss ).

  • Process and workflow optimization

  • Equipement quality control

  • Image quality

  • Diverse JCI requirements ( hand hygiene, correct patient identification etc)

  • Improvement projects ( TAT for reporting,  assessment of patients receiving moderate sedation, patient waiting times for appointments,  minimizing no shows, reducing uneccessary portable  requests i.e reducing radiation etc)

  • Revising and reviewing of existing Departemantal Policies and Procedures

  • Developing new Policies as becomes necessary

  • Improving staff saticefaction and performance by improving the orientation ; and follow up process.

  • In addition to this: Giving lectures as required in all the sections individually and

    • Improving client saticefaction
    • A service which this section has been providing to anyone in the Department  of Medical Imaging requesting it,  is to review and correct any written document to ensure the (language) quality of the  documents that are produced for or leave this department.
