Radiation Oncology

The Radiation Oncology service is meeting the need of a growing number of patients requiring a combination of therapeutic interventions to manage their disease. A new, state of the art Radiation Oncology Unit is planned for the new cancer center. Currently KAMC-patients receive radiation therapy from the department’s Radiation Oncologist at a number of collaborating facilities in Riyadh.

Consultative services are provided for inpatients at KAMC-R; in 2009 a total of 86 consultations were provided. In the outpatient setting 186 new patients were seen in the clinic and a total of 651  clinic visits.

The Radiation Oncologist actively participates as a member of several Tumor Boards, including: the Lymphoma, GI, Neuro-Oncology, Thoracic, Breast, Pediatric, Gynecology, and Head and Neck Tumor Boards. He also teaches the principles and practice of Radiation Oncology to students at the King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences.
