Primary patient diagnoses

 The ward cares for children with medical and surgical conditions. Surgical conditions include: Pre and Postoperative care for the Conjoined twins, gastrointestinal, orthopedics, neuro-surgery, plastics, ear nose and throat surgery. Medical conditions include gastroenterology, respiratory, neurology and infectious diseases.

  •  Pediatric Physical Assessment
  • Medical diagnostic tests
  • Point of care testing e.g. blood glucose testing, urine dipsticks.
  • Pediatric Resuscitation Airway Management e.g. suctioning, Oxygen administration, respiratory, BP and oxygen saturation monitoring, Tracheotomy care
  • Incubator care and Phototherapy
  • Isolation Procedures Pre and Postoperative nursing care
  • IV Insertion and fluid administration
  • Parenteral Nutrition, Blood and blood product administration
  • Conscious sedation e.g. CT, MRI and EEG.
  • Assist mothers with childcare including nutrition.
  • Formula and gavage feeding
  • Family teaching and support
