Primary patient diagnoses
The ward cares for children with medical and surgical conditions. Surgical conditions include: Pre and Postoperative care for the Conjoined twins, gastrointestinal, orthopedics, neuro-surgery, plastics, ear nose and throat surgery. Medical conditions include gastroenterology, respiratory, neurology and infectious diseases.
Pediatric Physical Assessment
Medical diagnostic tests
Point of care testing e.g. blood glucose testing, urine dipsticks.
Pediatric Resuscitation Airway Management e.g. suctioning, Oxygen administration, respiratory, BP and oxygen saturation monitoring, Tracheotomy care
Incubator care and Phototherapy
Isolation Procedures Pre and Postoperative nursing care
IV Insertion and fluid administration
Parenteral Nutrition, Blood and blood product administration
Conscious sedation e.g. CT, MRI and EEG.
Assist mothers with childcare including nutrition.
Formula and gavage feeding
Family teaching and support
Nursing care Delivery system
