Introduction:

Life is nourished by food and substances in food on which life depends are the nutrients. These provide the energy and building materials for the countless substances that are essential to the growth and survival of living things. The manner in which nutrients become integral parts of the body.

The Clinical Nutrition Department influences in the Health Service in a wide range.

Optimal health of patients relies on good nutrition from all ends of the spectrum. Nutrition plays a key role in the care of the critically ill, those with inadequate gut function, patients with eating disorders or food intolerances, the obese, and a variety of other clinical problems.

Divisions:

The Clinical Nutrition Department reports to the Operation Division and offers nutritional assessment and dietary advice to patients who are under the care of IAF Hospital- Dammam. The aim of Clinical Dietitians is to monitor patients’ nutrition on their assigned wards and the out-patients in the diet clinic. This includes nutritional assessment, planning, instruction, evaluation and the supervision of routine tasks of the Nutrition Educator and/or Unit Assistant/Interpreter on their assigned wards.
