Future Plans for 2013  

 

The Nutrition Department is looking forward to a productive time in the next 12 months, with many more goals and objectives to be achieved.

  • “Protected Mealtimes” should be considered a priority in terms of importance and dedication of staff time, and systems within organizations.

  • To be able to establish a nutrition support team that will provide specialist care to patients receiving TPN as well as complicated cases on enteral nutrition.

  • Aim to do a Nutrition Awareness week in order to make staff and patients more aware of healthy disease preventing diets.

  • Aim to do more training activities in the hospital for nurses, doctors and in general.

  • Developing appropriate educational aids and brochures.

  • Establish Research protocols and procedures.

  • Working with professionals for protocol guidance e.g. pharmacy, medical.

  • Obtaining new computers and appropriate software to enable the Dietitian to do proper nutritional status evaluations and to stay up-to-date with new developments.

  • Offers specialised metabolic dietetic training- Clinical Dietitian in the nutritional management of metabolic conditions.

  • Developing of new software for calculating metabolic diets.

  • Obtaining new Nutrition outpatients clinics system to reduce the number of "no shows", and reduce the waiting time.

  • Obtaining competency tools for dieticians to in order to success improvements in job performance.

  • Obtaining competency tools on clinical documentation audits.
