Continuous Professional Development Program
Continuous Professional Development Program has been conducted in all Family Medicine centers (4 sessions per week) covering various topics and problems seen in General practice, in addition to other important skills i.e. Communication & Consultation Skill, Professionalism and Evidence Based Medicine.
Different methods of teaching has been used in these activities e.g. lectures, case discussion, data interpretation and problem solving. National Guard Health Affairs shares its experience with other health sectors in the Joint training program of Family Medicine, currently there are a total of 31 Family Medicine resident in different levels of the training program and 2 Community Medicine residents. Those residents are trained in the joint programs in Jeddah, Taif and Madinah. We had four (4) Family Medicine and two (2) Community Medicine graduates for this year 2009-2010.
All Family Medicine, Western Region training centers were recognized by the Saudi and Arab Board Council for Medical Specialization. NGHA also share the training of house officer and Medical Student coming from different universities.
Postgraduate Training
The National Guard Health Affairs is a member in the Joint training Programs of Family Medicine in Jeddah, Taif, Makkah and Madinah .We are proud that all of our 6 Family Medicine centers are duly recognized training centers by both the Saudi and Arab Board Council for Medical Specialization
Family Medicine residents
Currently we have a total of 37 trainees in Family Medicine (R1-R4) 22 at the Joint program in Jeddah, 10 in Taif, 2 in Madinah and 3 in Makkah.
Community Medicine residents
Presently, we have 4 trainees in the Saudi board Community medicine program both of them at level R1 AND R3.
Organization of final Arab Board exams
The final Arab board exam was held at KFRC- Jeddah Family Medicine center for the last 10 years.
Training of Interns and Medical students
More than 40 interns per year spend their one month training in Family Medicine Centers.
More than 200 Medical Students per year spend five weeks training in different Family Medicine centers.
