Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

Mission​​​

The Mission of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at King Abdulaziz Medical City, Jeddah, is to provide the highest achievable standard of tertiary care in Obstetrics and Gynecology to women is comparable to the World's Centers for Excellence.

Vision​​

The Department envisages that it will be the referral center for High-Risk Obstetrics, Gynecology Oncology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Urogynecology in the Western Region.

The Department will maintain its credibility in Residency Training.

The Department is running effectively the subspecialties of Matenal-Fetal Medicine, Reproductive Endocrinology, and Urogynecology.

Divisions​

• The Maternal-Fetal Medicine Unit is a highly specialized Tertiary Care Facility for high risk obstetrics and fetal medicine. The Unit is capable of performing all diagnostic and interventional intra-uterine procedures. The Unit is equipped with 4 Ultrasound Machines, 3 CTG machines. There are 4 Examination Rooms and 1 Day Case Room. The Day Case Room accommodates gestational diabetes patients for blood sugar monitoring. 3 cases are admitted per day for 5 working weekdays.
• The Reproductive Endocrinology Section accepts all primary and secondary infertility cases for management. Cases that require assisted reproductive technique are referred to King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh or King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah.
• Urogynecology Section was established in 2006 and currently under construction and being equipped. The unit will run 2 clinics per day, urodynamic clinic and pelvic floor medicine clinic.

Staff​​

The Department is run by 11 Consultants, 2 Associate Consultants, 7 Assistant Consultants, 2 Staff Physicians, 3 Board Certified Physician, 3 Board Eligible Residents and 14 Residents.

Bed Capacity​

• 24 beds for antenatal, gynecological and gynecological oncological patients
• 21 beds for postnatal patients
• 5 labor and delivery beds
• 1 theatre in Labor and Delivery Unit

Achievements​​

• We are doing extensive teaching sessions and workshops for the whole staff and several National courses on advanced different topics.
• We are preparing patient education leaflet for a variety of issues related to our practice as general or as subspecialty topics.
• We passed the JCI Accreditation in good standards proudly.
