Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program

​Orthopedic Surgery Residency Training Program is a joint program with SCFHS.

Program duration: 5 years

The aim of the program:

  1. To Train and graduate competent, knowledgeable orthopedic surgeons who are capable of functioning independently.
  2. To provide an educational environment that promotes a high standard of health care delivery.

Program outcomes:

The board-certified Orthopedic Surgeon is safe and able to diagnose and treat most orthopedic conditions and practice with high professionalism and ethics.

Overview of Training Level:

The resident rotates during the first two years through different specialties (General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, ICU, Elective Rotations, and General orthopedic).

The remaining three years, rotations are with the orthopedic fields and subspecialties (i.e., Trauma, Pediatrics, Oncology, Foot and Ankle, Arthroplasty, spine, upper extremity) and Great Research opportunities.

Academic Activities:

  • Daily morning rounds
  • Weekend grand round every Sunday
  • Half-day academic activity every Monday
  • Cadaver session every Thursday
  • Riyadh Orthopedic activity for residents every Tuesday afternoon
  • Journal club every month.

Program Governance:

It is overseen by Program Director, Program Training Committee & PGME.
