Gastroenterology

Division of Gastroenterology

  • Six Consultant Gastroenterologist providing an expert care in Gastroenterology diseases and allied conditions, in and outpatients.
  • Each consultant has 2 clinics per week & 2 endoscopy sessions
  • IBD Clinic
  • Supplied via medical school with students, interns, with residency training programs and Gastroenterology Fellowship program.
  • Teaching basic and clinical Gastroenterology to Fellows, students, interns, residents, nurses and therapist.
  • Continuing education through textbooks, journal clubs and ongoing teaching bedside.
  • Rounds, morning reports and teaching patient care rounds.

    • Gastroenterology Pathology Sessions
    • Participating in Residents Selection and MD examinations.
    • Actively participating in General Internal Medicine, patient care and teaching.
    • Fellowship Training Program in Gastroenterology.
    • Some of division members are Assistant Professors in King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences and participate in lectures, tutorials, student selection and examination.















Division of Gastroenterology Scope of Service

The Gastroenterology section has six Consultants and 4 Associate Consultants also, one Assistant Consultant & one staff physician besides 3 technicians and 12 Nurses, provide care to approximately average over 250 inpatients with diseases of Gastrointestinal Tract. The Section serves approximately 800 outpatients per month in Gastroenterology. The division of Gastroenterology performing more than 40 procedures delay.

Type of performed procedures are Diagnostic & Therapeutic Endoscopy.

Procedures including:

Gastroscopy , Colonoscopy , Sigmoidoscopy , ERCP , Single\double Ballon enterescopy , Ultrasound Gastroscopy, Capsule Endoscopy.

Teaching Activities in Gastroenterology

The Gastroenterology Section participates in the following teaching activities:

  • Teaching basic and clinical Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine to students, interns, residents, and fellows.

  • Various lectures, tutorials and journal clubs to students, residents, fellows and therapists.

  • Participate in hospital continuing medical education, preparatory courses for Internal Medicine, both theoretical and clinical.

  • Participate and chair national conferences in Gastroenterology disease.

Gastroenterology Fellowship

It is 3 years training program and our division is also a part of Saudi Board for Gastroenterology teaching and fellowship.

Research Projects

The division is active in research in different aspects of Gastroenterology diseases.

Staff adjustment According to needs

  • The consultant is always present in outpatient clinic.

  • All consultation should be seen by consultant on-call.
